This years OSCON movie is so riddled with insider jokes that even I
only barely understood what was going on.  Here's a brief summary for
the yet uninitiated (or unamused or both).

Allison Randal: Allison is on the Perl 6 design team in addition to
being the new president of TPF.

Damian Conway: Damian Conway is co-designer of Perl6, with Larry Wall.
He's written some of the strangest and most innovative modules in
CPAN. For example: Coy, Lingua-Romana-Perligata, Switch, and

Kurt Starsinic: Kurt manages the CPAN scripts archive.  Matt Wright's
script archive.  is, deserved or not, the canonical example of bad

Tom Phoenix: Long-time native of Portland.  (Portland was an awesome
place to hold a conference)

Brian Ingerson: In addition to the obvious jokes, please reference the

Leon Brocard: Leon Brocard loves orange.  He really really really
loves orange.  He was the leader of the group that attempted to change

Graham Barr: The "Meta" package on CPAN subclasses just about every

David Axmark: David is one of the co-founders of MySQL AB. He probably
does know a few reasons why people would use a certain other open
source database.

Mark-Jason Dominus: At the second O'Reilly Perl conference, Dominus
sold Perl Certificates. You named a title and an Official Perl
Certification was immediately printed for you to take home and frame.

James Duncan: James Duncan is not James Duncan Davidson.

James Duncan Davidson: James Duncan Davidson used to
work at Sun and started the Java "Ant" project among others.  Now he
is an author and speaker on Objective-C.  

Casey West: Casey originally suggested the creation of the now very
popular and well functioning beginners mailinglist.

Andy Lester: Andy did a talk on "Automated Testing of Large Projects
with Perl" on this years conference and has written several Test::
modules. At his day job he has 9968 automated tests.

Joe Johnston: Microsoft sponsored lunch at OSCON'03. Twice.  No
illnesses were reported.

Schuyler Erle: Schuyler is bringing broadband to rural Northen
California with lots of wireless networking.  He is wearing the NoCat
t-shirt.  http://nocat.net/ As a vegetarian he is not frequently found
at Burger King.

Ask Bjoern Hansen: Ask last compiled parrot sometime last
year.  He writes all his script in perl4, tcl or ruby.

Robert Spier: Robert maintains the perl bug system.  He knows very
well how many bugs there are in perl.

Piers Cawley: No Explanation Necessary.
